“Recruiting of Red Crescent member and volunteer in Miri”

 

Miri Red Crescent is recruiting more members and volunteers and hosting membership drive and volunteer recruitment starting 10th April 2020 at Miri Red Crescent Centre located at Jalan Bulan Sabit.

 

The purpose is to acknowledge the public that many people around the world need and hope communities could help to carry out more humanitarian jobs.

 

Members and volunteers will be recruited to assists Seniors members if they encounter more injuries during any disaster or accident as well as people who have difficulties. Volunteers would also help out the elder who lives alone to help them clean the place they stay and accompany them every weekend.

 

First Aid Training is provided for members and volunteers who are willing to learn and help out during disaster, illness, and accident. From the training, they will learn different techniques of handling injured patients and what should they do if they encounter any problem when they faced a suddenly injured patient such as heart attack patients. Besides, more volunteers needed to take care of orphanage who lost their parent and help funding donation for children that is disabled due to disaster or illness.  

 

A Thrift shop set up by Miri Red Crescent allows the community to donate their unused goods for people who need it and donation of money to raise funds for disabled children and some goods can be renewable.

 

“All the proceeds from the sale of items here goes towards helping the needy. Some of the funds go to the Miri Red Crescent Dialysis Centre to buy food for victims of disasters like floods and disasters.” Said Karambir Singh, the Vice President of Miri Red Crescent thrift shop.

 

“Some of the money also goes to fund the operation of the Sunflower Centre where disabled children receive basic education and undergo rehabilitation,” said Karambir Singh, the Vice President of Miri Red Crescent thrift shop.

 

The community can register themselves at the booth to be part of the member or volunteer and choose to serve in any area of financial support. Primary and Secondary students are encouraged to join as a volunteer to train them to help the world and those people who are in difficulties. This will help to increase the knowledge of lending out our hands to help each other.

 

“Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless,” said Sherry Anderson.

 

According to Audrey Hepburn “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands-one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”

Miri Red Crescent is calling the communities to donate for COVID 19 Patients”

 

Miri Red Crescent has recently calling for blood and money donation as they are getting more people around us needs our help especially with the situation of COVID 19. They wish the communities can lend out their hand to help others by either choosing between blood and money donation or both.

 

In these few years, Miri Red Crescent have gather many volunteers to help with the donation drive and assisting in calling more communities to participate in the donation to help out.

 

With the recent outbreak of COVID 19, many people have been infected by the virus and CONVID case has been increasing rapidly. The president of Miri Red Crescent has gather more volunteer to help collect donation for CONVID 19 patient and urgently set up blood donation drive in collaboration with the General Hospital.

 

"We view Covid-19 seriously. The Covid-19 fund is aimed at helping those infected with the virus, especially patients whose work was affected while being quarantined.

Your sincere donation is much welcomed. Whatever we collect will be channeled to those deserving assistance," said by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin

 

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin added, "As on May 7, the Covid-19 Fund had attracted a total of RM40,298,699.49 from various contributors. And a total of RM25,228,105.44 was channelled to the ministry and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara,"

 

At Last, the Minister of Health concludes that “They are deeply appreciates the concerns of all Malaysians who wish to contribute and donate to assist MOH in better managing the COVID-19 situation in the country.”
